The choir was established in 2009 and takes its name from the hamlet near Welsh St Donats in the Vale of Glamorgan where it is based. Current membership comprises around forty children aged 8-17 years from the Vale and surrounding areas. At the National Urdd (Youth) Eisteddfod the choir won first prize in the choir competition under 12 years four times in succession (2009-2012), and in the SA singing group under 15 years competition three times in succession (2010-2012).
In 2013 the choir won the choir under 15 years of age competition at the National Urdd Eisteddfod and was chosen as one of five children’s choirs in Wales to compete in the biennial S4C Côr Cymru (Choir of Wales) competition held that year.
In 2014, the choir won the covetedChildren’s Choir of the World prize at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, competing against choirs from England, America, Russia, Czech Republic and Australia.
Then in April 2015, after first winning the children’s category semi‑final in S4C’s Côr Cymru competition, it was victorious in the grand final against all the other category winners, becoming Côr Cymru (Choir of Wales) 2015. The choir has appeared several times on S4C (Wedi 7, Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol, Rhydian, Degawdau Dafydd Iwan) and has taken part in numerous concerts, sharing the stage with well known artists such as Dennis O’Neill, Wynne Evans, Catrin Finch, Shân Cothi, Sophie Evans, Dafydd Iwan, Côr Meibion Taf, Côr Caerdydd, and the City of Cardiff Brass Band.
